From vibrant Madrid to the historic lands of Burgos, we set off on our adventure toward the legendary Camino del Cid, a journey that would be etched into our hearts and our thighs. This isn't just the story of a bike trip; it's a chronicle of pushing through, of friendship, and of the unexpected kindness we found along the way.

The Challenge Begins
We set off with a clear goal: to ride roughly 700 km to Albarracín and, if our legs and the clock allowed, to make it back to Madrid. But not everything went to plan. On the first day we expected to devour 70 km of trail, yet between the mud and a late start we barely managed 40 km. That first day taught us this journey would be as much a mental challenge as a physical one.

Kindness Along the Way
Every pedal stroke carried us through history and natural beauty, from breathtaking landscapes to some of the prettiest villages in Spain. But what truly defined our trip was the generosity of the people we met. In every town, the locals' hospitality gave us shelter, showers, and even a hand cleaning the relentless mud off our bikes. Those acts of kindness became beacons of light in our darkest moments.

Overcoming Every Obstacle
The route was full of obstacles, from the mud that slowed our progress to the physical pain that tested our endurance. Yet every challenge we overcame made us stronger and closer. We learned to laugh at the mud, to comfort each other through the pain, and to find joy in every small win.

The Beauty of the Trail
Despite the challenges, or perhaps thanks to them, every day gave us moments of pure beauty. From the stars shining above us each night to the sunrise greeting us behind the mountains, nature became our accomplice. Those moments of connection with our surroundings are the ones we'll treasure forever.

Conclusion: An Adventure to Remember
When we finished our route in Cuenca, we hadn't just covered kilometres of trail; we'd also traced an inner journey. This MTB trip along the Camino del Cid was more than a physical test; it was an experience that taught us about resilience, friendship and human generosity. We say goodbye to the adventure, but not to the memories, the lessons and the connections we made along the way.
